Another tangent: is it only girls that are disappointed when you don't act "black" enough?

hey, same page on the "not black enough" thing. i read your masks entry; i grew up in suburban ohio (effectively making me white until i moved to florida). to answer your question, i was talking to two friends of mine; one is mixed and the other is an egyptian who has very light skin and curly brown hair. we were discussing how the mixed friend is eligible for african american scholarships, but sandra (the egyptian) is not, because although she IS african american, first generation, to the eye she is white. i think that there are some things you get handed to you with black heritage and some that are taken away, by both the black and the white communities; same thing with causasian heritage. i guess it's a tradeoff, but it does suck that anyone has to choose.

one last question. ive noticed that after a while, black guys have stopped being attractive to me because they invariably expect me to be a person i'm not. but i've never had a "type", so it's always been kinda weird when people are like, "what's your ideal man?" and i'm like, "dunno. just not black." i was wondering if youve experienced the same thing, like an expectation that supercedes your personality and rests squarely on the color of your skin.
